Fulham are expected to name Mark Hughes as their new manager within the next 24 hours.
The Cottagers have been searching for somebody to replace Roy Hodgson since he left to take charge of Liverpool earlier this summer.
Caretaker manager Ray Lewington has continued to fill the role on a temporary basis, after the club were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Ajax manager Martin Jol.
A number of names have been linked with the club but it looks certain now that ex-Manchester City manager Mark Hughes will take over as manager.
Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed stated earlier this week he was in no hurry to appoint in new manager, but news of a new manager is now imminent.
Hughes who has been out of work since being dismissed by Manchester City last December is now the overwhelming favourite at 1/100 to become Fulham boss by the end of the week.
If the Welshman as expected does take charge of the Cottagers, he faces a difficult task emulating the excellent performances on the pitch last season, after Hodgson took the West London club to the Europa League final.
Hughes is expected to be given plenty of funds to improve the squad, but will only have a month before the end of the transfer window, and just a fortnight until Fulham kick off the new Premier League season at home against Bolton.
One potential target could be unsettled Man City striker Craig Bellamy, who worked well under Hughes at both City and Wales and has been linked with a move out of Eastlands.
