A number of 186 players started Day 3 of the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic, and by the end of the day only 72 players remained to battle in Day 4.
Poker pros eliminated from the competition include Jason Mercier, the 7th place finisher in last week's NAPT Venetian Main Event Thomas Fuller, Gavin Griffin, Chau Giang, David Singer and Barry Greenstein.
Mark Newhouse finished Day 3 of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic as the chip leader. He accumulated a total of 498,000 chips. Newhouse won a couple of big pots to end the day on top, most notably a big hand in which he five-bet all-in with A-K. He ran into another player's pocket kings and spiked an ace on the turn to double up to the chip lead.
Chris Moore with 489,000 chips came in second place. He was followed by Masa Kagawa. He has 432,000 chips. In fourth we find John Cautela - 417,000 chips and in fifth Shawn Pilot - 400,500 chips.
